A Cause for Celebration: Goretti Leads the Way as Our First Intern with Special Needs

In Kenya, securing employment is a daunting challenge for individuals with special needs leading to high unemployment rates. The majority of job openings often require extensive work experience with only 1% of people living with special needs having a job as compared to 73.8% of the general population in Kenya.
Recognizing these obstacles, Ubuntu Life Enterprise and Ubuntu Life Foundation have collaborated to offer internships that provide valuable hands-on experience. These internships are designed to accommodate the individual learning pace of each child, allowing them to spend a longer duration gaining practical skills and knowledge. So in line with this goal, we are delighted to announce that Goretti is our first student in the special education program to have secured a work internship at Café Ubuntu. As she embarks on this new chapter Goretti will serve as an inspiring testament to the power of resilience and perseverance. Showing all our kids that they can also pursue a fulfilling career.
Over the past two years, we have faced challenges, learned valuable lessons, and witnessed remarkable growth in ways we never imagined. So to Goretti, we say "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." - Eleanor Roosevelt
