Kids Trip to Camp Wendo.

When we assessed how our children and their parents spend their time, we discovered that many families spend most of their time at home or on the Ubuntu grounds. While we are proud of the comfortable and enjoyable environment we have created, we realized the importance of offering our children experiences beyond their usual surroundings.

That's why, from August 8th to 12th, we organized an exciting trip to Wendo Youth and Family Trust Camp, located four hours away from Ubuntu, for our kids and staff members from various departments. Our main goal was to challenge the kids and expose them to new and diverse experiences. We are dedicated to providing our children with the tools they need to lead fulfilling lives, even if it means stepping out of their comfort zones.

During the camp, we wanted the kids to explore and learn in a safe and less structured environment than what they are used to at Ubuntu. It was truly amazing to see the unique personalities of our kids shine through as they participated in various activities.

To our staff, the camp provided a better understanding of the daily routines and challenges faced by our parents. This insight will help us better serve both our children and parents in the future.

The parents were thrilled, with some even taking the opportunity to visit their rural homes for a vacation - for many, it was the first time they had spent a night away from their children. When the children returned from camp, their parents welcomed them with joyful songs as the buses arrived, expressing their gratitude to Ubuntu for the incredible experience we provided.

The camp was a huge success, and it was heartwarming to see the kids break out of their shells and fully engage in the activities. We hope that the experiences had by both our parents and staff were not only enjoyable but also transformative.
