Wanja's Story

This month we saw one of our biggest success stories in quite a long time. It was so encouraging to watch! We met Wanja Njuguna at nine months old, and she presented with delayed developmental milestones. When she attended our clinic, her medical history said that even at nine months old, she had not been vaccinated even once. This is far too late to be starting infant vaccinations. After much convincing from the clinic staff and our social workers, we finally convinced Wanja's mother to take her beautiful daughter to get vaccinations. Our Nutritionist also assessed Wanja and found she was severely malnourished. Her lack of vaccinations and being malnourished made her highly susceptible to many diseases.

Our community health worker and doctor were able to connect Wanja's mother to the nearest health center, and Wanja was able to start getting her first vaccinations. Along with this, she was given an extensive nutrition plan, and so far, from her check-ups, she has been gaining weight and is on the path to recovery. We praise God as now we can see Wanja grow up to be an amazing young woman who can fulfill her potential to the fullest, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
